News
New year, new changes and goals
We are now in 2019, which sadly also means the departure of Marek to his new adventures in Canada as a postdoc. In happier news, Hendrik and Sandra both graduated! Hendrik will continue with us as a PhD student and Sandra will stay for a few months more as a laboratory assistant! It will be hard to fill all of Marek’s shoes, but together we will make 2019 a successful year.
Summer times: Dissertations and Summer Students
Summer is already here (in May) and this year we are pleased to have both old and new summer students in the lab. This summer, Hendrik Hästbacka, Sandra Pihlström, Jenny Pessa, Sara Bengs, and Dorota Szymanska will be joining us on our science journey this season! We also have a dissertation around the corner (18.5). Jenny Joutsen is defending her PhD thesis titled “Regulation of Cellular Stress Proteins in Physiology and Disease. Everyone is welcome to join!
Biology Department 60y!
We celebrated this Wednesday (22.11.2017) the 60th anniversary of the Biology department here at Åbo Akademi University! May we continue as successfully in the years to come.
Fall(ing) back to research again
We are enjoying the last days of Summer just before the slow ascent into Fall and the coming of Winter. The 8th International Congress on Stress Proteins in Biology and Medicine was a great success and we are now moving on with research as usual.
